However, with ANDINA AMAZONICA, there is another different option to visit Machupicchu that mixes adventure, nature, culture, without much physical demand and the most important thing, in only two days.

ANDINA AMAZONICA, takes you to know Machupicchu, walking through its jungle trails and cobblestone paths of ancestral times, in less time and without much physical effort than the traditional 4-day trek. This itinerary is ideal for those travelers who like to enjoy nature and history, traveling through tropical landscapes, relative heights and archaeological centers with great history. However, it is also important to mention that, in order to do this type of trekking, the traveler must be in good health and not have any kind of hip, knee or spine surgeries that could cause any kind of physical or emotional decompensation during the trek.

Details

Day 1.- ROUND TO WIÑAYWAYNA (ALWAYS YOUNG)

  • Our host guide will pick you up at your hotel, according to the agreed time, then we go to the Ollantaytambo town station where we will board the train at the time indicated on the ticket. From the train station we will travel for an average of 1 hour and 10 minutes until we arrive at Km. 104, sector called Chachabamba at 2,000 m.a.s.l. (6,560 ft), where the road to Machupicchu begins. On the route by train, you will be able to appreciate the incredible cultivated fields worked by hand by the villagers of the whole area, mountains and snow-capped peaks that go beyond 5,000 meters or 16,000 feet, and with a diversity of archaeological sites along the Urubamba River, etc.
  • Once in Chachabamba, you and your guide will meet our support staff, who will help you with your luggage and other things you do not need during your trekking activity, they will take care of transporting your luggage to the hotel in the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night. Once again light, with your guide you will go to the checkpoint to show the necessary documents and permits for the hike. After using the restrooms and re-organize their personal belongings, water and snacks; we begin the hike visiting first the archaeological site of Chachabamba, administrative and economic control center, with buildings that show enclosures, rests, ceremonial areas, andenería, irrigation canals, etc.. After a brief explanation, we continue the walk for an average of 3 to 4 hours (depending on the pace of the traveler).
  • On the route we can appreciate all the beauty of flora that shows the route as, native trees, bromeliads, orchids, begonias, ferns to reach the beautiful waterfall of Wiñaywayna (Quechua word that means “always young”), after refreshing ourselves in the clean and pure waters of the waterfall, we will continue to the archaeological site of the same name at 2,600 m.   • After resting and eating a tasty box lunch, we continue towards the Puerta del Sol (entrance to the Inca citadel of Machupicchu) for an average of 2 hours more walking, en route we can appreciate much more vegetation than in the first part of the hike, see some vestiges of Inca constructions as the original Inca road paved and staircases, We will also be able to enjoy the sounds of nature and if we are very lucky we will be able to observe different species of birds on the way such as the Andean watchmaker, the quetzal, the emblematic cock of the rock, among others.
  • Once at the famous sun gate or Inti Punku, we make a brief stop with the magnificent view of the citadel of Machupicchu, the Urubamba River that borders the mountains of Machupicchu and Waynapicchu, the mountains that surround the sacred city of the Incas and of course the sky always blue with clouds and mists that give the magical and mystical touch to the place.
  • After delighting our eyes with the unique landscape of Machu Picchu from the heights, we begin the descent for about 40 minutes more and we will have the opportunity to approach one of the agricultural terraces, used as viewpoints to observe very closely the wonder of the modern world “Machu Picchu”. After the photos and the explanation of the guide, we will leave the place to leave the archaeological park and take the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes where we will have dinner with the group and rest at the hotel.

 Day 2.- IN THE WONDER OF THE MODERN WORLD MACHU PICCHU!

  • This day we wake up early to have breakfast and go to the bus stop to travel about 25 minutes to our second day in the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, once inside, the guide will take you to tour the corresponding circuit for an average of 3 hours, if you have included the entrance to the mountain of Waynapicchu will be left at the entrance gate of the mountain for you to go on your own or if you want the company of a guide we also offer it as an additional service.
  • After the tour, the guide will let you know when it is time to return to the town of Aguas Calientes, have lunch in a restaurant and go to the train station to board the train and return to Ollantaytambo station where the van will be waiting to take you on the paved road to your hotel in Cusco.
