ON TWO WHEELS THROUGH THE SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS

Full Day

The Sacred Valley of the Incas, has not only the perfect climate to live, but also has the perfect geography for the practice of this adventure sport, an ideal activity for children and adults with basic cycling experience. ANDINA AMAZONICA invites you to live a unique experience, surrounded by mountain scenery, fertile valleys of crops, streams fed by the waters of the rivers that flow down from the snowy peaks and always pedaling along the Vilcanota River or Sacred River (considered so by our ancestors), crossing picturesque villages and hamlets, knowing closely the people and their culture, among other details.

Touring the Sacred Valley in a van is common, but touring the villages and communities of the Sacred Valley on two wheels exceeds the expectations of those who love adventure and at the same time want to mingle and interact with the local people of the villages. ANDINA AMAZONICA, takes you to know every corner of the Sacred Valley, invites you to interact with the local people, enjoying a delicious stew outdoors, drinking a glass of “Chicha” (sacred drink of the Incas based on fermented corn), a wonderful experience that you will never forget.

Mountain biking is widely practiced in different parts of Cusco, especially by all young people looking for action and adrenaline. With ANDINA AMAZONICA, the mountains, places and trails with a certain degree of difficulty within the Sacred Valley, are the favorites for Down Hill lovers, and because there is also the opportunity to visit cultural and natural tourist attractions (tangible and intangible) along the way.

Throughout the city of Cusco, there are different tourist routes for this type of activities on 2 wheels, the favorites are:

  • Route Maras – Moray: Leaving the city of Cusco in a van that transports us to the town of Cruz Pata (where the activity begins located 30km or 18.64 miles) of the city of Cusco; the level of difficulty for the activity is moderate, since it travels an average of 48km. (30 miles) approximately at an altitude that varies from 3,300m.a.s.l. (10.82 ft) to 3,550m.a.s.l. (11.64ft) and you have the opportunity to visit the tourist attractions of the salt mines of Maras and the Inca laboratories of Moray (this is the same route used by the ATVs).
  • Pisac – Calca – Urubamba – Ollantaytambo Route: The circuit begins by taking a van to the archaeological site of Pisac at 3,400m.a.s.l. (11,15 ft.). (11,15 ft.), after the guided visit, the tour is done by bicycle, we go down to the town of Pisac to enjoy the famous chicha morada and an empanada; we continue the trip on 2 wheels crossing different towns like Calca and Urubamba and their respective districts and communities until arriving to Ollantaytambo at 2,792 m. After enjoying a well-deserved lunch, we visit the archaeological part of the place and the town, where we finish the visit and you are transferred by van to your hotel. The level of difficulty is more demanding as it is an average of 67km (41 miles) from Pisac archaeological part to Ollantaytambo.

  • Urubamba – Ollantaytambo Route: this route is more flexible and less difficult, ideal for families, since practically the entire route is flat; it starts from the main town of Urubamba at 2,870 m.a.s.l. (9,41 ft) until reaching Ollantaytambo at 2,792 m.a.s.l. (9,16 ft), where we finish the activity with a well-deserved lunch. • Abra Malaga Route (down Hill): favorite route for extreme adventurers, who are looking for maximum adrenaline, fun and with a lot of experience in down Hill. The starting point is 104km (64.62 miles) from the city of Cusco. This route is a favorite for those who like speed biking.
