¡MACHU PICCHU, WONDER OF THE MODERN WORLD!

Full Day

Machu Picchu, considered the most emblematic icon of the country, the most important destination and the most visited among the other tourist attractions, these are some reasons why it is chosen as one of the most precious treasures of Peru.

Machu Picchu is considered one of the 7 wonders of the modern world and declared in 1983 as Cultural Patrimony of Humanity. ANDINA AMAZONICA, invites you to enjoy the perfect blend between Nature and Inca Architecture (due to the geographical location surrounded by its evergreen mountains, the blue sky, the magnificent views of the Vilcabamba mountain range, its snow-capped peaks, the Urubamba river canyon; all in harmony with the beauty of its architecture and the fine stonework of its constructions).

A piece of history through time:

According to historians and archaeologists, it was built in the middle of the 15th century by the visionary Inca and Great Architect called “Pachacutec” where he himself ordered it to be built for his residence and that of his family. The name in Quechua (ancestral language) means “Old Mountain” in allusion to the peak of the same mountain where the citadel was built, approximately 2430m.a.s.l. (7,972 ft), built on the same rocky chaos that was used as a quarry for the extraction of this granite rock.

Machu Picchu, the Inca citadel, has constructions of social, political, economic, administrative, religious and astronomical character, which makes it a functional citadel, an important citadel, capital of a Marka or a region as was Ollantaytambo, Pisac and Cusco itself.

According to archaeological discoveries, in Machu Picchu were found remains of pottery of pre-Inca influence, which would indicate that groups of these ethnic groups conquered by the Incas, were brought to this place to erect the construction on this mountain. What is known is that Machu Picchu was depopulated or abandoned approximately in 1537 because its inhabitants joined the army of Manco Inca, to fight against the Spanish invasion, which is why Machu Picchu was never finished.

ANDINA AMAZONICA, takes you to nourish yourself with all the history of our ancestors, to walk and touch each block with your own hands, blocks that not only show the ability of ancient man, but also tell you the story behind each of them and that are part of the construction of this great citadel.
